About Jurgen Vollrath

Jurgen has worked with technology companies from emerging ventures to major enterprises. His background combines engineering, patent drafting and prosecution, IP leadership, licensing and company formation.
That combination informs a practical question: how does each patent decision contribute to the business? The same perspective applies to an initial application, an Office Action response and a negotiation over technology rights.
He is also Co-inventor and Co-Founder of ClaimMark, bringing his experience into software designed to support patent practitioners.
Selected career experience
At SAP, Jurgen served in senior patent leadership roles, including acting Chief IP Officer and Chief Patent Counsel for SAP Research. His published biography describes leading a worldwide IP team and negotiating SAP’s global patent cross-license with Microsoft.
The experience connects the quality of individual applications with portfolio cost, licensing and business strategy.
Jurgen co-founded Corinthian Ophthalmic and served as general counsel and in regulatory affairs. His professional profile describes building a portfolio of more than 40 provisional applications while working within startup resource constraints.
His co-inventorship of U.S. Patent 8,733,935 is visible in the public record. The patent’s assignment history also records a transfer from Corinthian to Eyenovia in 2014.
His earlier work included leadership of licensing, trademarks and IP due diligence. This added a transaction perspective to patent practice: how intellectual property is assessed, transferred and negotiated as part of a business.
Jurgen’s career also includes partnership and leadership of the firm’s San Francisco patent practice, followed by general counsel and Chief IP Officer work at MSE in energy technology.
